Frequently Asked Questions
How does the design process work?
Once I’ve understood your objective for your garden, and the things that are important to you, I begin the research phase. My creative process includes copious amounts of coffee, lengthy walks to spark inspiration, extensive browsing of books and magazines. At this stage my floor becoming a canvas of printouts, cutouts, notes, sketches, accompanied by some great music. This part is very enjoyable but also at some point a reminder of a deadline. It also involves some work with a hard landscape designer to make sure I’m in the right direction in terms of budget and possibilities. The final stage results in the production of a mood board and visual ideas that outline the design.
Why is it important to meet the client at their home?
The design of the outdoor space is not only about choosing plants and designing the hard landscape surface. Great garden design requires the skill of merging the clients ‘interior’ decor, their needs, and their personality, to embrace their garden. A garden is an extension of the home and, once designed holistically, indoor and outdoor spaces will unite.
Are you an artist?
Yes, however I am also a Biologist by trade with a Masters in Biology – five years of study. I love creativity in any form, clay moulding, metal shaping, and wood carving. Every garden deserves to have a unique feature, and it is the designer’s responsibility to do this. In my spare time I paint with oils on canvas, and usually create my initial garden designs by hand.
What makes you a garden designer?
My passion for nature and art makes me a garden designer. I have vast knowledge about plants and love to continuously expand that knowledge. My Garden Design Diploma from the British Academy gave me the opportunity to bring Biology and Art together and start my garden design company.
How would you describe your experience so far in the garden design industry?
I started by working as a gardener in Scotland, which enabled me to understand the common issues of plants in very wet environments, growing in heavy clay. I have experience across multiple climate zones across all four seasons. My time working in Italy, in a nursery, alongside one of my fellow garden designers, enhanced my expertise with drought tolerant planting.
Do you have a favourite garden style?
I am drawn to rustic and naturalistic garden design using ornamental grasses. These give flow and smooth the edges to the garden. I appreciate classic English Gardens but I like to add a twist. Modernistic, wooden furniture, contemporary cushions, a fireplace to warm the skin and create a magical feeling of calmness in the evening.

Rest assured, we aim to offer transparent pricing and will work with you to find a solution that fits your budget and achieves your garden design aspirations.
How does the garden design process work?
Our garden design process starts with an initial consultation to understand your preferences, needs, and the specifics of your space. Following this, we’ll create a concept design, which we’ll discuss and refine together. Once the concept is approved, we develop detailed plans and planting schemes. Finally, we can oversee the project to completion, ensuring the design is implemented to the highest standards. Have a look at one of our designs – watch this video.
How do I start the process of designing my garden with you?
The first step is to schedule an initial consultation with us. Then we can arrange for a site visit. During this meeting we’ll discuss your vision, preferences, and the specifics of your space. This is a great opportunity for us to understand your needs and for you to ask any questions you may have about the process. From there we’ll provide you with a proposal tailored to your project.
Can you work with my existing plants and features?
Absolutely! We understand the sentimental and aesthetic value that existing plants and garden features can hold. Our designs can incorporate your current elements, enhancing them within the new landscape to ensure they blend seamlessly with any new additions. Our goal is to respect and elevate what you already love about your garden. I worked with a client in Scotland – watch this video.
What is the typical timeline for a garden design project?
Timelines can vary greatly depending on the size and complexity of the project, as well as the specific services you require. After our initial consultation, and once a design is agreed upon, we can provide a more detailed timeline. Generally, small to medium projects might take a few weeks from design to completion, while larger, more intricate designs could span several months. We strive to work efficiently whilst ensuring the highest quality and attention to detail in every garden we create.
What types of garden design projects do you handle?
We specialise in a variety of garden design projects ranging from small residential gardens to large commercial landscapes. Our services include full garden makeovers, thematic gardens, sustainable and low-maintenance gardens, as well as the installation of water features and hardscapes.
